The FEC Galing Bata Program at Bessie Carmichael/Filipino Education Center (FEC) provides gabay (guidance), lingap (care) and bantay (protection) to TK-8th students during the school day, after school and summer. For the past 19 years, we’ve provided linguistically sensitive and culturally responsive programming and services to all interested Bessie/FEC students and their families primarily Filipino immigrant and Filipino American youth who are low-income, English learners, underperforming or disconnected from school, unhoused, living in transition, and/or exposed to violence, abuse, or trauma.

Our current Filipino enrichments are Filipino 101: "Usap Tayo!" (Conversational Filipino); Filipino Arts and Stories; and Filipino Wellness.

Please support 19 more years of the Galing Bata Program and promote bilingual education for students in San Francisco. Maraming salamat po! Thank you very much!

A weekly support group and dedicated space for Galing Bata parents and families to get to know each other and build friendships. Our needs assessments and wellness checks during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and shelter-in-place determined that parents and guardians are also in need of a support group to help with their mental health during this time of uncertainty and changes.
